usb storage device

I have a sandisk 256MB storage card that I'm trying to
use with two laptops that I own. It works with the new
one (both run XP Home), but not with the one that is
about 1 1/2 yrs old. I think it may be a driver issue in
the old one. Both laptops have USB 1.1 and both alert me
that I am connecting a high speed USB device to a non-
high speed USB hub. However, only the new one lets me
access the USB drive. When I go to my computer to access
the drive on my old laptop, it shows the drive but tells
me when I double-click that the drive is "not ready:
incorrect function." Any help or direction would be
greatly appreciated.
