| Santa You must be logged on as an administrator and you cannot be logged on with the account that you want to delete. Click your user account picture at the top right of the Start Menu. Select manage another account, click the account you wish to delete and select "Delete the account". You will be prompted to leave this users files on the computer or remove them. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Santa" <Santa@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7B16B386-2CBA-4DE1-8344-DC38B21659C4@microsoft.com... | Stuck Unfortunately, you don't have a lot of options to correct this behavior for any program that is not compatible with Vista. When this program runs, it is trying to access restricted areas in the system and the registry where administrator privileges are required. A simple manifest file programmed into the game would fix the problem, but this is something that the developers of that game would need to do. You might want to check the website of that game developer for any compatibility updates. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "stuck" <stuck@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:4F6BD5BE-D159-4A25-BAAD-9F0EE30F1550@microsoft.com... | I bought a new labtop, it came with Windows Vista Home Premiun. First thing I did was create a user account. When I turned off my computer and turned it back on, I had one little picture that I chose for my user account. When I clicked on it, I put in my password and that logged me into my computer, everything was good. After receiving a Windows update( I don't know which one). All of the sudden, when I turned on my computer. I have two user accounts, same picture, same password, same account, just got two of them. I tried deleting it and making a new user account but that didn't work, the new user account had a twin also. The twin shows up when I log in and under user accounts. I just want to know how to fix the problem. It seems like everytime I get an update for Windows Vista something goes wrong. My labtop is a FUJITSU and I got in it August, everything worked great until I started getting updates from Vista. | Guest

| Quote from Ronnie Vernon MVP: Many people are having this same problem. The problem has been identified as a conflict between the OmniPass fingerprint reader software and Vista. Here is the latest information posted by another user who fixed the problem. <quote> I contacted OmniPass and you do not have to uninstall the OmniPass Software. I downloaded this file, www.softexinc.com/download/UninstMSPwdProv.exe - ran it re-booted and I only had the 2 ADMIN Accounts I wanted. this seems to be a problem with OmniPass Version 5.00.18 and Vista update, It has been addressed and fixed in Version 5.00.75 which will fix the issue. If you don't the next time you do a Windows Update with Vista you may get the same doubled user accounts again. </quote> You can download the fix from the above link and double click the downloaded file to run the file. You also need to contact OmniPass support or your PC maker to inquire about getting the latest version of the OmniPass software. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included. | Open a command prompt as administrator. run the command net user USERNAME PASSWORD /add Have you tried using the microsoft management console? Click start and type mmc in the search field. Once it is open go to File then Add/Remove Snapin. In the left pane select Local Users and Groups and click Add in the center and then click Finish and OK. Expand the Local Users and Groups node in the left pane of the MMC and open the Users folder. Click the Actions menu and select New User... "mel78" wrote: Quote:
