| Hi I installed vista. It asked me to enter a username at start and I chose John. I then wanted to login as administrator but unlike xp I couldn't find a way to make it display a login screen at start. So I deleted the user john. When I logged off I did get the option to login as another user. I tried Administrator and no password but that did not work. I then tried to login as John but couldn't as this user is deleted. I am now stuck outside vista unable to login. Is there any way to login or do I have to delete vista and reinstall again? Thanks Regards | Guest

Sounds like a reinstall, but try the blank password for Administrator in safe mode too. -- Jon | Guest

| The first account that you create after install is a member of the Administrators group. It will be your main account. The inbuilt 'Administrator' account is disabled by default. -- Jane, not plain 64 bit enabled :-)Batteries not included. No, I believe someone else suggested trying the Administrator account from Safe Mode - or try it from the recovery tools on the Vista install disk. | The "administrator" account is purposely disabled. The account you created during the install is an administrator. Reinstalling won't change this. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926183 -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "John" <John@nospam.infovis.co.uk> wrote in message news:%23rsnRdwVHHA.192@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... | In Vista USER Logins are typed DOMAIN\Username MachineName\Username password password and you cannot delete the Primary user before creating another unless you attachit to another system first. "John" wrote: Quote:

| I did this too. Unless you've enabled the administrator account or have another user account enabled you're stuck. I ended up reinstalling and then enabling the administrator account first thing so it wouldn't happen again.
