Username and password for Vista backup

Posted: 01-02-2009, 02:22 PM
When using Vista Backup and when you get the request for a username and password after you have selected the network location you need to enter "Everyone" (without the quotes) as the username and anything you like as the password.

I found this on another forum and have been struggling to use Vista Backup with my WD My Book World - having tried to use the WD Anywhere password etc.

But if you use "Everyone" and anything for a password then it works - mine is backing up as I type

Hope this helps

Regards

Dave

To whom are you talking and about what?
The "forum" that you are posting in leaches off the Microsoft News servers
in order to make it look far busier than it really is. Everyone who uses the
MS News servers sees your post on it's own - we have NO IDEA what you are
talking about and to whom you are talking.

This is not your fault - the fault lies with the forum owners who do not
explain to members that their posts end up on global Usenet newsgroups.
If you MUST continue to post in this "forum" then please at least quote the
post you are replying to, and do NOT change the subject line.

You would be far better off however, using a news reader and subscribing to
these news groups direct.

Thank you

Hey Shit-For-Brains, he is giving a solution to a problem that he came
across. It doesn't look like he is replying to any one person but since you
have your head shoved so far up your ass, you just can't figure that one
out.

The use of "Everyone" is a special user name that has been given permissions
in Share Permissions. In other words, your network is open to everyone. Many
people remove "Everyone" from Share Permissions and force people to enter a
valid user name and password.
