Users can't rotate pictures using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer

Posted: 01-28-2004, 02:49 PM
When users try to rotate pictures - usually the new rotated picture is
saved automaticaly and replaces the original one.
This works fine when the picture is on the local disk.
But when the picture is on a network drive - the rotated picture isn't
saved (although the user has write permissions).
Domain Administrators don't have this problem.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this problem ?
Thanks,
Yifat

There are two simple solutions:

1) Have users save after rotating.

2) Don't worry about it.

I have a similar problem, I'm not able to rotate the pictures on a network drive even though the file permissions are full change, delete etc

I don't know if the following applies but might be
worth a try:

If you previously clicked "No and Don't Show Me
Again" when a dialog warned about the possibility
of lossy rotate...this should restore it.

Open a picture in the Windows Picture And Fax
Viewer. Hold down the Ctrl key and click the X in
the top right corner of the window.

Hi
Thanks for your answer.
I tried this Control-X thing but I still don't get any messages and
the picture still doesn't rotate.
Another funny thing is that when I first press "rotate" - nothing
happens.
Only the second time I press it - I see the picture rotating
BUT - it is not saved....

We also have this problem, only on network drives this problem showes up.
I don't know for you all but we use Novell, could this be the problem?

I also have this question on a dutch microsoft newsgroup.

I found out that

if I give the users "Full Control" permissions in the share security definitions -
this problem is solved...
So, I built a special share for pictures to bypass this problem.
