Using the "Print to File" option

When I use the "Print to File" option, a file with no extension is created
on my desktop. If I remember correctly, Windows used to give these files an
extension (I believe it was .prt, but I'm not sure) and have the right-click
option to print them. This no longer happens, so I cannot figure out how to
print them. Since the "Print to File" option still exists, I assume there
must be some way to do it, so can anyone help me? Thanks.

Print to File creates a *.prn file (PRN)
Did you click Save and OK? You may already have it saved.
You can look for it on your harddrive using the Search feature.
Go to: Start>Search>Files and folders>type *.prn and click search.

You can insert the full path to have it located elsewhere on your hard disk.

You have to open a Command Prompt and type:

COPY filename.prn LPT1:

if your printer is local, or

COPY filename.prn \\server\shared_printer_name

if the printer is networked.

Don't know if I'm doing this right but what command do you use at the prompt
for printers connected on USB

you have to share them on the local PC, then use the command for networked
printers where \\server is your own PC.
