Video/Monitor Drivers not sticking after a cold boot!!

Hello
My friend has a gf4 4200 with a fresh windows xp install, and is using the
45.23 drivers. The problem is after he shuts the PC down for the night and
turns it on in the morning, the monitor is plug and play and the resolution
is changed to default. If he reboots a 2nd time right after that everything
is fine and back to normal. I had him add/remove the drivers and try some
of the beta ones, but the result is the same no matter what driver set is
used. Any info would be appreciated...
