Default Virtual network adapter in XP

On another forum there is a post about a "Virtual network adapter" built
into XP. Does any one know anything about this. I have done a search on
google and the only thing that came up was programs that allowed this for
server connections of some type and that Win 2000 server had this included.

Some installed software has created the virtual adapters.

For example, VMWare will create virtual adapters.

Also, If you have IPv6 installed, you will get a bunch of
Tunnel Virtual Adapters.
From memory, these would be things like:

6to4 Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Automatic Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface
Loopback Pseudo-Interface

This is normal.

Thanks Ron.
I had a discussion with some one at another board and he insisted that XP by
default install a "Virtual network adapter", it was in a thread about
something eating the persons bandwidth. So I have been doing a lot of
checking to see it this was the case. The conclusion is you have to install
some other piece of software, other than just the OS, to see or get these
VNIC's.
Thanks again Ron for the input.
