Virtual PC 2004

Posted: 08-16-2006, 04:34 PM
I have Virtual PC 2004 and wanted to install the Vista Beta as a virtual
machine but I cannot get VPC to recognize the Vista DVD or ISO image. I get
a message that says VPC cannot recognize image files bigger than 2.2 GBs.
But I noticed in a previous post that someone said they have a Virtual Vista
Machine. Does anyone know how I can get this to work? Thanks very much for
any help.

The easiest way is to download Virtual Server 2005 R2 (also free) and use it
to create the vm. Unlike VPC, VS 2k5 R2 can recognize a 4GB dvd image or
disc. After you install Vista simply use the vm in VPC since vm's are
interchangeable between VPC and VS.

The other way is to use a virtual drive program like Alcohol 120 or
Microsoft's own program for reading the .iso image.

Just to let you know that I have downloaded VPC 2005 and got Windows Vista
configure and installed in a virtual environment. Should you need how to
configure your VPC to accept Vista, let me know.
