| Is there an admin tool pack that I have not seen. Vista RTM 64bit Ultimate version and I can't find the admin tool pack specifically for Vista. Should I attempt to run the xp version? Text from the XP/2003 version. Readme for the Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack ---------------------------------------------------------- PLEASE UNINSTALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THE ADMINPAK BEFORE INSTALLING I. Setup issues: ---------------- The AdminPak.msi file will ONLY install on 1. Windows XP Professional build 2600 with QFE Q329357 or 2. Windows XP Professional SP1 or 3. Windows Server 2003 Using it on any other build or product is not supported as the install will stop with an error stating: Windows Server 2003 Administration Tools Pack can only be installed on Windows XP Professional with QFE Q329357 applied, on Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 or later, or on computers running Windows Server 2003 operating systems. The AdminPak.msi file cannot be installed on any version of Windows 2000, or on Windows NT 4 servers. | The W2K3 SP1 Admin Pak will install on Vista RTM (x86 at least). I had to install it/remove it/reinstall it before I got it to correctly register all the .DLL's and work correctly but it does now seem to work. Stuart. "Mike Barbere" wrote: Quote:

| I don't think it will be available until after the release date. The information in your post answers the second question. -- Ronnie Vernon Microsoft MVP Windows Shell/User "Mike Barbere" <midwesttech@community.nospam> wrote in message news:e8ZGktwEHHA.3596@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... Quote:

| You should use the Windows 2003 Server SP2 RC version. To get them download the SP from Windows Update and extract the exe to a folder and copy out adminpak.msi. Then you will need to register some of the DLL's manually as the install fails. http://windowsconnected.com/blogs/jo...vista-rtm.aspx -- Josh http://windowsconnected.com Now with NNTP goodness! | What if you have upgraded from Xp to Vista, when you go to uninstall the Admin tool pack it errors and says that you do not have the correct OS so it will not uninstall -- escully Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com | Guest
