Vista and UAC

Posted: 11-20-2006, 10:33 PM
I have some applications that will not run unless I do one of two things:

Disable UAC or
Change shortcut to run as administrator

Anyone have any comments in regard to this?

Thanks,
Michael

The application vendor should be notified so that they can manifest the
applicatoin properly.

Michael,

Did you try to configure compatibility level for those apps?

Right-click app executable > Properies > Compatibility

Hello,

This is the expected behavior of applications that are not compatible with
Windows Vista. You can also get them to run correctly with UAC turned on by
right-clicking them and clicking Run As Administrator.

However, the best solution, as you have found, is to edit their shortcut or
compatability tab of their EXE to always run as administrator.
