Vista Autorun Question

Posted: 10-19-2007, 06:29 PM
I was trying to see what's on my Vista Ultimate OEM disc so placed it in my
dvd rom and I had autorun on. The Vista installation screen immediately
loaded up and started "upgrading" (with status bar) however, I already have
Vista Ultimate (installed already from same disc) in my computer. So I left
clicked the upper corner of the window to cancel the installation/upgrade and
I got a message about files not being saved. Then I had to exit that screen
in task manager since there's no way to exit out of it, no button or exit I
could see.

So my question is, did this cancelled installation/upgrade screwed up my
Vista Ultimate that's already installed? I was wondering if my current
installation had any files changed since it's been up to date.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

If you cancelled the upgrade then it should have 'rolled' back any
alterations it made; that is what normally happens. If anything went wrong I
would expect that, when you re-booted your pc, you would have, probably, got
a message to the effect that 'operating system couldn't be found' or
something similar.

The next time you want to browse the DVD keep your finger pressed on the
Shift key on your keyboard just after you insert the DVD. Don't remove your
finger until the DVD has finished spinning up. At this point the autorun
will not kick in and you can browse your DVD via Windows explorer.
