| Have installed Vista Beta 2 on an IBM ThinkPad T42p (1.8Mhz, 128MB MOBILITY FIRE GL, 2GB RAM, Intel PRO/1000 & Intel PRO/2200BG) and specifically web access throughput is crippled (like 30% of 7Mb update in... 3Hrs!) - other performance including ftp and local network throughput is fine. Have tried switching off firewall, various security settings but to no avail.. clean build (Office 2007 Beta 2 & Skype 2.0.0.107 installed) - any ideas most appreciated! | I had a similar problem until I went into network card configuration and set it to 10mb. Works fine now but obviously slow on the network. Stuart "ReubenC" wrote: Quote:

| Hi Stu - thx for feedback, but symptom is in evidence regardless of adapter connected (wi-fi or LAN, or if the other adapter is disabled..). Tried disabling the wi-fi and setting the LAN adapter to 10-Full or 10-Half with no change - currently at 81% of a 1.8Mb download that's been running for almost 10hrs! My LAN connection was created (named) as "Local Area Connection 5" (and can't be renamed to just "Local Area Connection" as this is in use which I find odd and suggests several other adapter (virtual or otherwise) bound before it - is this the same with other folks installations? | I have similar problems with my IBM ThinkPad T41p (Intel PRO/1000 MT & Intel PRO 2100 3B). Using WLAN connection web seems to work just fine. Ethernet connection works somehow, but only inside my company intranet, including sites that IE does not recognize as Local intranet sites. Surfing outside is extremely slow (Firefox download speed was about 50 bytes/s). Remote desktop connections were very slow as well, so it is not just http. Tried disabling firewall, changing XP driver for NIC, setting link speed manually, no help. The 5308 build had the same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tomi "ReubenC" wrote: Quote:

| I am having the same problem with Web Pages. Very Slow to download. In some case, tha Web Page times out. If you hit refresh, the part of the web page that did not download, opens on another page. I have some strong feeling abount the LAN Connection 5. In XP Pro SP2, you had to have only 1 Connection per Card. If you had more than 2, you sometimes could not connect to the Internet at all. In IE 6, yuo only had to DELTE the LAN connection and rebuilb the tcp/IP pipe with only one Connection showing. I also need help in this aea trying to fix IE. Most pages will not load up and some do. Interestingly enough, http://google.com loads and msn.com does not. I did all the nice thingd to ensure it was not my PC Funny - I have the same Intel LAN ethernet card as you. -- Have a Great Microsoft Day Sincerely, Joe Paone joepaone@msn.com cell: 843-267-3998 "Trik" wrote: Quote:
