Vista Beta:

Posted: 10-04-2006, 01:14 AM
Installed Vista from disc that I received from Microsoft and made the mistake
of not doing a clean install. Lots of problems with installed programs etc.
had a number of conversations with various people at MSN and it was deceided
that it would be better to do a clean install as I had just downloaded the
RC1 version in the last few day's. Got a dialog box to enter serial number
into. Entered number but could not get the "GO" button to highlight. Tried in
safe mode with the same result. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Mewstone,

Typically the GO button will not "activate" if you:
1.) Don't have the correct license key (pre Beta2 keys don't work with beta2
and up or something along those lines)
2.) Didn't enter all of the license key (I've done it myself a million
times)
3.) Misread the license key (done this one too!)

I've personally not seen Windows Vista fail to install at this stage unless
one of those two items isn't true.

Not sure if it is BETA 2 or not. but have carefully checked that the key was
correct as it was entered and after entry. Did not look like the usual
product key box though and something that I have not seen before was.
"Please enter your new serial number or a plug-in serial number". Will load
from disc again and try once more.
