Note that some of these books are based on the beta software. The Introducing Vista by William Stanek is pretty good, but you don't want that version of it, there is a fair bit of inaccuracy in it due to changes between beta 2 and RTM. I'm sure he'll release an update now that RTM is out.

Most of the better looking titles, like Ed Bott's Inside and Out, are not
going to make Christmas. How about a Barnes and Nobles gift card?

I'd love one. I really look forward to Ed Bott's book, but I hope he and
his co-author takes their time with it so that they can do the job everyone
knows they can and probably will like Ed has done with his 3 blogs. I'm
amazed at how these guys who write the substantial books are getting info
besides their own innovative experiences with Vista, since MSFT is doing
such a terrible job of providing it on Technet or MSDN or main sites to
date. I remember hearing from some of them that the info from MSFT was like
squeezing blood out of a turnip and spinnin' straw outta gold.

I noticed Imusic cards all over stores too. Those are gifts anyone could
use.

They have NDA agreements specifically for this. They have been looking over
MS's shoulder since early on.

I'm glad someone will be getting out some substantive info on Vista because
it sure as hell has not been Microsoft to date.

I can find gigabytes of information on Vista from Microsoft on the MSDN
site.
From using the new GUI features, API changes, Security Center stuff, driver
information...

I have no clue what you are talking about.

In fact a quick check shows over 20 gig of programming data for those
serious about Vista.

Thanks for the info, everybody. I guess it's going to have to wait. I
liked the Bott/Siechert book on XP so I will probabaly get that when it
comes out.
