Vista Business downgrade to Vista Home Premium

Posted: 03-06-2007, 08:49 PM
My PC came with XP Pro pre-installed. No CD supplied.
Recently downloaded via Windows Marketplace, Vista Business Upgrade.
So I don't have a DVD/CD of OS.
Not happy with Vista I attempted to use the restore software included on My
PC in order to revert back to XP Pro. Since Vista installation the restore
program no longer works.
Prior to discovering this I requested a refund of Vista Upgrade. So now I am
stuck with Vista that is not authenticated and XP Pro I cannot reinstall.
I've decided to purchase Vista Home Premium. A DVD/CD!!
My question is. Which do I need to purchase? The upgrade version or the
full version.
Note: NEVER purchase a PC without a CD of OS, and Don't download Vista!

Unless you can restore your o/s and install Vista Home Premium as an upgrade to XP, then the the only route is the full version.

What makes you believe that Home Premium will function when Business did not.

Did you run the Vista Upgrade advisor prior attempting to install Vista Business.

You have a good point. I think either way I will have to purchase either a
xp full version or a vista. I suppose it amounts to cost, so if I do decide
on Vista the Home addition would make more sense. Originally I upgraded to
Vista Business because it did not require a clean install.
Thanks for the advice.

Marc.

Go to the Digital Locker and download a copy of your Vista Business license.
Put it on a Flash stick, or something.

Borrow someones DVD and perform a custom install of Vista Business without
entering the Product Key. (A Clean Install)

Put the license from your flashstick back on your computer and double-click
it to reinstall Business with the Product ID and activate.

Since you've already paid nearly the full price, now use the Windows Anytime
Upgrade feature and buy Ultimate. This will give you all the media stuff you
didn't get with the Business version and will be cheaper than buying Home
Premium Full or Upgrade.
