Vista causing some difficulty

Posted: 06-14-2006, 12:34 AM
I am a long time windows user and just tried the Vista Beta today.
Everything appeared to install fine, but for some reason, I cannot boot it.
If I start up the computer, I see the Vista loader bar, and from then on, the
screen goes blank and nothing else happens. I can boot Vista in safe mode,
but how do I try it out like that?

PC Config:
AMD3700+ (64-bit with 64-bit Vista beta)
2048MB Cosair XMS RAM
ATI X1600XT Pro AGP 512MB (with apropriate 64-bit vista driver)
Soundblaster X-Fi Platinum (Vista driver will not install)

Anyone else having this issue and know how to fix it? Should I try just
reinstalling Vista?

Did you try searching this forum and read some of the other people's posts
who are experiencing the exact same problem and also how they solved it?

Do a fresh install after writing zeroes to your drive. You can d/l .iso files
for such utilities from Maxtor and Seagate's websites. This would be an
essential place to start before doing anything else, IMHO (works for me).

Good luck
