| Hi all, Just installed Vista Beta2 as an upgrade to XP Home and after a long time and then some frustration with drivers etc most of everything I have on this computer seems to be running ok. But there is of course a couple of things. 1) Initially, Vista kept on asking for my Office 2003 Pro original disc whenever I opened a window. Even with the original disc inserted it could not find the "SKU011" cabinet file. This was however solved by running a repair on my office package from the original disc. But now, none of my MS Office applications will start. Trying to monitor the activity through the task manager there is a second or so of activity but then it stops. No error messages or any other information pops up. Is there anyone that have encountered the same problem and/or know how to fix it? 2) The icons on my desktop are unseemingly large. I run in 1280x1024 and the icons are about twice the size of what I had when running XP Home. I have tried to locate somewhere to adjust the general size of the icons, but to no avail. Had Desktop X installed on XP Home and had to to a "dirty" uninstall to get it off the system. Can't fine anything left of Desktop X, Windowblinds, WindowsFX or any of the other programs but can't of course be too sure that they don't interfere. If anyone have any good solutions or suggestions it would be highly appreciated. | Guest

| I had the same issue with Office 2003 installing on my system. But it seem to be an issue with my CD, but I am reconsidering that thought, its definitely a bug in Vista. My recommendation would be to open the the disk, right click the setup executable, click Properties > Compatibility tab and select an appropriate version of Windows, I tried XP SP2. As for the Office applications not working, try uninstalling Office 2003, go to x:\Program Files and delete the Microsoft Office folder, clean out your temp folder, restart your system and try reinstalling Office. Its not a guarantee to work, but its worth a try. I would also recommend you update to the latest Service Pack for Office 2003. I suspect it could be an issue with Office 2003 RTM and Vista, because I installed Office 2003 SP1 on Vista and did ot get the SKU011 error. As for the desktop icons, right click the Desktop, select View > choose Classic Icons. As for your third party apps such as Windows Blinds and Desktop X, I don't use them, so I don't have answer for you except to check the developers website to find out if there is any info on Vista support, updates or patches. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Norseman" <Norseman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:94F39148-AE02-4D9F-A7CA-4AA2378874ED@microsoft.com... | Hello there, Thanks for the quick reply. I now have "normal size" icons. Its kinda funny though. I kept digging and digging deeper and deeper into settings etc while the whole time the answer was just 2 clicks away.. :-) I will try to uninstall and reinstall Office 2003 Pro. Hopefully that will work. The install I have running is fully updated as was the rest of the computer I have Vista on now. Luckily I have more than 1 computer so I still have access to an Office package. So far I like what I seen in Vista. This is of course a Beta version but at least on my computer it seems to be running quite well. And as far as i can determine, most of my programs start faster with Vista. Again, thanks for the quick reply. Take care, "Andre Da Costa [Extended64]" wrote: Quote:

| Norseman, remember to file any issues you have with Vista using the Feedback link on your desktop. Even if your bugs or suggestions are not considered for this release, they have greater chance for the next release. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Norseman" <Norseman@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:1FECBCE4-FCFA-4079-AD5E-480A2C71F213@microsoft.com...
