Vista error C0000221

Posted: 01-21-2009, 02:33 AM

hey all , i hope i can get some help with this problem that has jus
started. Pc was working perfectly when i left it and then came home an
my sis said she just tried to use the pc and it came up with this blu
screen and error message. The message was Stop: C0000221 Unknown Har
Error \systemrrot\system32\ntdll.dl

I googled the error and there are no definitive answers to the problem
I have checked all the cables in the pc and even changed them. There ha
been no new devices added to the pc nor any new drivers/updates or an
new software. I can safteley say the pc is virus free adware free

I did try the vista repair from the disc and it says repairing and the
it does its thing and then when i click finish it tries to boot up an
brings me to a screen where i have the option of repairing again an
boot normally. If i try any of them then i just land up again at th
blue screen! I have tried to boot into safe mode but it fails to boo
into safe mode

Oh yes while the repair was going on i looked at the diagnostics repor
and it said that the root cause was System Volume on disk is Corrup
Repair action= file system repair (chkdsk). So even though the repai
failed i tried the repair menu again and this time i tried using the CM
to see if i could do a chkdsk. The chkdsk says i have to unmount firs
so i click yes and then it continues doing something and i say somethin
about orphaned files and then it says that chkdsk CANNOT CONTINUE an
then ends there. I tried doing it with chkdsk /r /f /b but they al
fail!

Any ideas how i fix this WITHOUT having to do a reinstall? Is it just
matter of replacing that 1 corrupt file or is it something else

Thank
