| It's for RPC (Remote Procedure Calls) and a lot of servers. I don't think you want to close it. If you go to the page below and search "this page only" for 135 you'll see. http://www.microsoft.com/smallbusine...s_ms_prod.mspx You can open/close ports through the advanced firewall thing. I'm not at a Vista PC right now, but it's easy to find. I'm sure someone else can tell you how to get there. | What type of network are you on? The firewall will open it on a domain network. As Puppy Breath says, 135 is for RPC. More correctly, it is the RPC Endpoint Mapper port. It is used by remote systems to find RPC services on your system. Those are used for remote management If the firewall is in the public profile 135 should be closed.
