Vista Home Premium - Single User Profile - "user profile cannot be loaded"

Posted: 02-11-2008, 12:19 PM

Hi all. I am running Vista Home Premium in a Dell Dimension Deskto
which is about 6 months old

Right from the beginning, we have only ever had one user name to lo
into the pc

Out of the blue after not having anyother problems before , today ,
tried to log in and got the messag

"The user Profile Service service failed the logon. User Profile canno
be loaded

I have tried to look up on this to sort it out , but all of th
solutions involve logging in under a different admin name - but we d
not have one

The other solution method I have found is to press F8 when he compute
boots up - but this doesn't take me to any menus on my computer. M
options are to press F2 For Setup Menu and F12 for Boot Men

F2 takes me to a bios screen , and F12 gives me the following options

Norma
Bootable Hard Driv
On-board CDROM Driv
System Setu
Hard Drive Diagnostic
Boot To Utility Partitio

I thought there might be a way for me to do what I need to do b
booting in cmd prompt or msdos? But I cannot find a way to boot into it
I can't even find a way to go into safe mode ( assuming I could get int
safe mode?
Can somebody please help me

Many thank

F8 results in my case that I can choose from which disk to start and no
the Vista save mode. (pressing F8 every second as soon as you start t
boot). First it costs me a day to get an internet connection (NIC drive
problem). After logging out I have now the problem too "user profil
cannot be loaded

So, how can I solve easily this trivial login problem

Hello Wsmaal,

If you have not tried this yet, then it should help you.

Yes I have read this before I mailed this forum, but I can't login vi
F8 and the alternative (clean install) is for me on this moment a ver
bad solution (I upgraded from XP). What I still can do is this *'Startu
Repair - Vista Forums' (http://tinyurl.com/2n6coo)* (boot from CD an
repair your computer (startup repair)

Are you able to use System Restore, from Option Two in this tutorial
to select a restore point dated before this problem

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76...estore-how.htm

If all else fails, then this tutorial will show you how to do a clea
install with a Upgrade version of Vista

http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/68...rade-vista.htm

Hope this helps

System restore is possible but I fixed a NIC driver problem and I don'
know if the latest restore point includes my fix.. I think that upgrad
from XP to Vista isn't a good idea. Clean install avoids IMHO trivia
problems..

I hope that one of the repair methods will work for me, because with
clean install I loose my personal data..
