Vista, ICS, and Xbox 360

Posted: 02-12-2008, 05:47 AM

Ok guys, here's what's up. I am using my laptop to connect to a wireles
router that is connected to the internet. What I am trying to accomplis
is to have my Xbox360 to connect through the internet through my lapto
using ICS, but the xbox can't connect to the internet. The laptop is o
Vista Home Premium 32bit. Windows Firewall has been turned of
completely while testing, the comp. does have nortons so I disabled i
from turning on at startup and it is not running. I have read thes
forums and it seems no one has an exact answer to this problem, but I'
going to try and see if mine is different.
There are a few places I think the hold up could be at...
1: At the manage network connections page it shows the wireless NI
connected to internet, should I be clicking its properties and the
going to sharing and enabling it? (i have it enabled on the connectio
the 360 is plugged to, the wired LAN) because there is no sharing ta
under the wireless NIC that acually has the internet connection.
enabled sharing on the LAN NIC that is free(the one the xbox360 i
connected to).

2: It is showing my LAN(xbox360 connection) as " 'unidentifie
network', shared ". All connections are set to private network. unde
status it shows sent packets, but no received packets. i click diagnos
and repair and try to make it autoassign new IP, and even reset networ
adapter, doesn't help. I have updated both NIC's driver's, they ar
current.

here is my ipconfig /all as well.... ALL help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Ok I have a 360 and have it configured the same way in vista. Turn the 360
off. After you share the wireless connection to the LAN it should give it the
ip of 192.168.0.1. You need to change that to 192.168.0.2 for it to work for
some reason. Then after that is done turn the 360 back on and you should have
a connection. And I have had problems with Mcaffee firewall if you have that.
