Hi,
I've got an older Lenovo desktop (8294-A2M) which i upgraded from a Celeron
to a P4 (3Ghz). I've been running MCE 2005 on it for ages with no problems.
Anyway, i thought i'd install Vista. Bad idea.
The installation disc just freezes on the black screen with the green
'Microsoft Corporation' loading bar. After MUCH trial and error
removing/adding in different hardware i discovered that if i install the old
Celeron CPU it installs perfectly.
So i installed with the celeron in place, then put the new 3Ghz CPU in. Bam.
Vista just halts on that green loading bar. This new P4 runs MCE 2005 with no
problems.
I've run the Upgrade Advisor under XP and it says it's compatible with
Vista. I've tried running just a SATA and also just a PATA drive. I've tried
all the pcmcia fixes. I've tried removing USB devices.
Does anyone have any ideas here? Below is a link to the ntbtlog.txt that was
generated when i installed the 3Ghz CPU in the machine AFTER it was already
installed with Vista with the Celeron CPU.
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Jason
