vista is not able to detect sata drives...

Posted: 10-21-2007, 06:13 PM
I've placed an extra hdd on my system and replaced an ide-internal
dvd-writer by a sata -dvd writer; now my vista-system refuses to start up,
and advises me to repair the 'system' with the vista-installation dvd.
Although the bios and 'partition commander' are able to 'see' my sata hdds
the vista -installation process on the dvd is not, and in order to be able to
detect the sata disks it asks for a 'sata mass storage' driver.

Unfortunately my d975xbx2 intel motherboard does not pocess such a driver.
Before this board I used to have a msi board and it came with a sata driver
that made it possible for the vista-installation dvd to detect sata disks.
I lament to say that this msi-sata driver does not function on my intel board.

I used to be acquainted with this problem on the xp-installation/repair
process; unfortunately the same problem continues to exist on the vista
installation/repair process.

How might I resolve this question?

Kind regards.
