Vista/MacOS Network Compatability

Hi All:

I'm a computer novice, so I may be missing something entirely obvious.
Here's my dilemma:

just purchased a PC laptop equipped with Vista
the rest of our office is Mac Based
our server is a Mac

I'm trying to get this laptop hooked on to our local network/server

any advice?
