vista on raid?

Posted: 08-16-2006, 08:57 PM
hi all, hope someone can help. i've received the beta vista, and want to
install it to my raid0 array. however, i get a message saying that vista
cannot identify my disk arrangement when i try to install from within
windows. i'd rather not have to do a clean install, but just install on top
of my xp pro x64 installation. is this possible? many thanks for any tips
etc.

sorry, forgot to include specs - which i think are sufficient for the vista
install:

amd 3800x2
4gb ram
2 x 300gb sata in raid 0
nvidia 7800gt
asus a8nsli-dx

When you reach the screen that gives you the option of standard or custom
install, you need to click on "Load Drivers" so that you load the drivers
for the SATA drives.

The install has not even started at the point Mark is referring to. It is
at the point where you choose the volume for the installation.

Does it ask for location to install when doing an upgrade? If not, how would
you load drivers?

As Mark sadi you have to load the nVidia nForce 4 Vista Beta RAID drivers
during the first part of install (as you would have done with XP using the F6
command).

The RAID drivers and how to install them are on the nVidia Beta downloads
page.

I have a similar problem. I installed Vista and it worked fine. Then in did a
windows update and it had to restart. When it restarted the safe mode option
screen appeared but none of the options work. I tried repairing it by booting
from the install dvd. It says it cannot find a HD. I have two 80gb Raided
hd's. Does this mean i need to install drivers for the raid? And if so, who
has drivers for Vista?

AMD 3200+
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe
1gb RAM
ATI Radeon x850xt
two 80gb RAID

Please help, thank you.
