Default Vista RC1, ACPI.SYS, STOP 7E, ThinkPad T60p

Trying to install or upgrade a ThinkPad T60p from WXPPRO SP2 to Vista RC1
(5600). Boot to DVD and begin install, stops (on the bar scanning back and
forth) with BSOD STOP 7E ACPI.SYS error. Upgrade does all the normal scan,
copy, et al... then reboots, then ditto. Any suggestions? Turned off
SpeedStep. Same thing.

It's 2GHz, Dual Core, 1GB RAM, 100GB Drive. 25GB free.

Have you tried disabling dual core in the bios? It is in the CPU config

I haven't, but guess I could to see if it gets by this error. However, I
wouldn't want to use a notebook this high-end... with Vista... and have to
run it without dual core. I am wondering if it is related to the "upgrade"
and if a full "burn down the hard drive and install" would work better. I am
going to back up my data this weekend and try. Just seems to me that an IBM
ThinkPad w/ generic WXPSP2 should upgrade pretty seemlessly.

Right.
I was able to load Beta2 without issues.

I don't know if an upgrade will help, since acpi.sys bluescreen does not
only appear during setup but also after setup. I just cannot start RC1 on
this T60p (2008-CTO)
