Vista RC1 install problem

AMD 4200+ 2GB ASROCk AN13c

160GB SATA (with WXP64)
40GB PATA (for Vista)
CDRW
DVDRW

Downloaded Vista RC1 and burnt DVD. starts install but fails after key
entry, complaining that can't find Vista files - looking on wrong drive??
Clearly a drive identity problem, but it doesn't seem to matter what drives
installed when Vista DVD boots. Any suggestions anyone (apart from
re-arranging all drive hardware!)

I don't want dual boot, just to try out on single IDE drive.
