Vista RC1 (Re-)Activation Issue after visiting support.microsoft.c

Posted: 09-30-2006, 03:18 PM
Hi everybody!

This is my problem:

I installed and activated Vista RC1 about 2 weeks ago.

I used Vista to go to www.microsoft.com and download some software that
required the "validate your PC" process.

My PC didn't pass that verification and by that time Vista always tell me
that I need o validate my copy of Windows to enable Aero, Windows Update and
so on.

Any hint to re-abilitate Vista?

(I alredy have forwarded this issue to the beta program, but had no reply
from them)

Thanks a lot

I had a similar problem with XP. I downloaded and installed 'Genuine
Validation Diagnostic' and the problem disappeared without me doing anything
else. Might help with Vista. Colin

Hi Spirefm, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find any 'Genuine Validation Diagnostic' tool from
MS download site. I've found only this link that seems to check IE for
compatibile config:

http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/

Could you please send me the right URL to that tool?
Thanks a lot
MD

Have you tried using the phone system? (Control panel/system at the bottom).
Probably the automatic system will not activate you but then it hands you
over to an operator who asks a few questions and then gives you the key.

Well, since my build is 5600 I just downloaded the 5728 and as I could get
around that problem I think I will install the new build.
Perhaps a fresh install will solve it
Thanks again
