Vista setup with Via Raid

Posted: 06-07-2006, 06:32 PM
Hello all,

Has anyone installed Vista using Via raid (8237 SATA RAID controller) ?
If so, are the drivers included in Windows setup, do XP drivers work or is
there some other workaround (x86 rather than x64)

TIA

Regards

Bri

As do I on an ASRock. Is it just me, or should a basic SATA driver be
included in the base system, somewhat like the way it has been included in
the (free) linux kernel? I think that the technology is far enough along to
be included in such an expensive product as Windows by now.

Buried deep in the bowels of Via Arena is a statement that Vista will be
supported from Version 1.5a of the PATA/SATA IDE Driver. No date is given but
1.4a was released in April 2006.

The driver will be available in the HyperionPro package as well.

This article is an interesting read on upcoming changes to the various Via
drivers and how they intend to distribute them.

So, for me, its back to XP for the forseeable future.
