Vista thinks multiple antivirus programs are installed

I've seen posts describing the /verifyreposition /salvagerepository switches
for winmgmt. Verify has always show the repository is consistent. Using the
netstop, rename repository, net start approach initially works, but within a
day Security Center is reporting multiple antivirus programs again.

Any ideas how to fully resolve this issue?
