Where has my run button gone?
1. Right click on your taskbar and select Properties

2. Click on the Start Menu Tab and then select Customise.

3. Scroll down the list and check the Run Command check box

Very good, BUT ...

Does Vista STILL require use of a floppy for third party drive controllers?
After ALL these years, can't they at least get that right?

Hello Guess,

I think you might be able to use a USB Flash Drive. In all the directions
I have read they say to use a floppy disk.

I think you're supposed to be able to supply drivers on CD's or USB drives
too... haven't tried it on anything but floppy, cause I only have one seat
for which I have to provide a SATA controller, and that seat has a floppy
drive. I do have a PC that came without a floppy drive, so if I had to
provide drivers during setup, I would then be trying the CD or USB drive
option.

Well... you can still get to the run box by hitting WinKey-R.

Also... the Start search box acts as the Run box... just type the exe or
command you want to run and it will...

Amen!

I wonder what these folks with newer computers that don't come with a floppy
drive are supposed to do? Go out and buy a USB floppy drive for $30-40 that
will be used once a year?

Flash drives have been around long enough. It's time these
*cough*promise*cough*asus*cough people caught up.

A slightly simpler way, imho, to disable UAC is:

Click Start orb
Click the picture icon at the top right of the Start menu (your personal
acccount icon)
Click Turn User Account Control on or off.
Click Continue if prompted.
Check/uncheck Use User Account Control to help protect your computer
checkbox to enable/disable UAC
Click OK button.
