Default vista upgrade advisor lies

Well, after dl'ing 3 times to finally get a Vista img that will install, it
won't. Why, because Vista upgrade advisor told me my hardware was good to go
and I didnt need to install drivers for my silicon image 680 ata/raid
controller. I got the green checkmark on them but when I try to install it
failed and hosed my system. Had a backup but still it was a near a week old
so I lost a lot of stuff.

There are NO drivers installed at the time where you choose which drive to
install to. It is up to you, the operator, to supply (and install by
clicking on "install driver") the drivers on a floppy, a CD or a DVD.

There is just no way around this that I know of.
