Vista Upgrade COA number already in use????

Posted: 01-03-2008, 11:45 PM
I bought a Vista "ready" laptop last year (2006) and sent in all the
paperwork for the free upgrade to Vista. I installed it early in 07, found
out how crappy it ran, and reinstalled XP. Now that there are 40 million
updates for Vista, I decieded to reinstall it and it seems to be working much
better after all the updates. However, today, a window popped up and said
"activate windows now or it woll stop working in 22 days". When I tried to
activate, it told me my product key was already in use. Is this because I
installed it once already? How do I orrect this? I tried to go to
Microsoft.com, but you have to have an 8 year college degree to use their
site. Can anyone help? Thanks -Dale

Yes, it is because you installed it already. You can choose Activate by
Phone, give Microsoft a call, and they will get you activated with no
problems in about 5 minutes.
