Well! My fix lasted exactly 6 hours and 13 minutes. My wife believes Vista
is not ready for prime time and we should switch back to XP. I really can't
disagree. But it's ridiculous to pay premium money for a new operating system
that doesn't work.
I am like so many others--days of frustration. Microsoft has made a huge
error on this and we are the ones paying for it.

Hi Barb, I did, try rolling back my driver and turned off my autoupdates as
part of my resolution before I contacted microsoft and it did not work. With
the firewall down I reupdated my laptop (manually) and it was working until I
restarted for the third time (first and second restarts were fine but the
third died on me) I really am at my end, and will have to back to XP (that
and the majority of my software doesn't work on it) I am an engineer with
specialized software, plus the networking is a little dodgey. Thanks for
your help and maybe keep us posted when MS has worked out the bugs in Vista's
XP/networking problems.

of my computer remotely and still couldn't find the problem. The tech guy
says maybe its the router but I've tried 3 different routers.

I have had similar problems, initially I had to turn of ipv6 and that worked
for a while. (I am running Win Vista Ultimate *fyi). Then I couldn't get
around the router but could communicate with machines and my NAS drive behind
my router. While other computers had no problems getting out to the internet.

The first fix I did was to enter the gateway for the router.

Here recently there was another patch update from MS and now I can't get out
past my router once more. I have not tried the reg edit for the broadcast
flag. What I did find is that by using a static ip address I could get out to
the internet and past my router. However in doing so I lost the ability to
work with computer's etc within my network.

The other thing I've noticed is that the computer appears to disregard the
router ip range and assigns it's own dhcp ip address. Ie 100 ~ 165 it wants
to do 204 and now it'll set the gateway to 204 and ip address to computer as
207. Of course directly connected works fine.

That's where doing a static ip worked.

With the feed back listed here I am hopeful to combine some the ideas and
find a better solution.

Something between the router and win vista is the problem.

Router is a Linksys w/speedboost v5.
