OK I am confused, I am installing Vista Ultimate 64. I go through POST,
then boot from CD, it goes black, then I get the green microsoft loading
bar, then the screen goes black. nothing after that, it just sits
indefinitely until I reboot and go through it all over again. I have
waited the first time for 90 minutes, hoping it would finally do
something.
I have this problem on my Asus K8VE Deluxe 754 with an AMD64 3300, 2
Gigs of HyperX Kingston RAM, an ATI AIW X1650, Samsung 300G SATA HDD,
and a Lite-on Lightscribe DVDRW. All of this is water cooled in a rack
mount server case using an UltraX 500w power supply.
I have swapped to a new motherboard, now using an abit K8 pro, I have
swapped to an IDE Western Digital 250G HDD, I have returned the
Ultimate64 disk and got another, plus I have also bought a copy of 32bit
Ultimate hoping that 64 was just screwed up and wouldn't work on my
system. Same problems
I have tried unplugging all USB devices, all 1394, no other devices
except keyboard and video connection. I am so baffled, I have tried
everything I can think of. Can someone out there possibly help me? Or
at least convince me that I have not wasted $800 for nothing, except a
couple good shotgun targets and a good convincing that Linux is a much
better choice.
