Vista wont post

I recently downloaded Vista x64 RC1 Beta2. I tried to install it and when it
was almost finished the screen went black. Just black no blue screen nothing.
So I restarted the computer, and it booted up to a black screen. Then I
restarted again but this time I chose to boot up into safe mode and it acted
like it was going to load windows but I got a error that said I needed to
restart and finish installing windows. I have tried many different things to
install it but I keep getting the same result. I even waited for a couple of
hours after the screen went black during installation but nothing happened. I
even downloaded the x86 version and it gave me the same hassle.
My computer meets more than the minimum requirements. I am running a
Athlon64 3200+ 2.0ghz, Asus A8N5X motherboard, XFX NVIDIA Geforce 6800 XT
256mb video card, 2gb A-data dual channel memory, and 3 320gb Western digital
sata150 hard drives. I think it might have something to do with the video
card driver but I don’t know how to go about fixing drivers before installing.
If anyone knows how to fix this problem I would appreciate your input. I
would like to test out Vista before it is released.

Thanks, kraziejason

I had exactly the same indications when I upgraded from RC1
build 5728 to RC2 build 5744. I even rebooted and tried to
go into the Safe Mode with x64 as you describe. I rebooted
a second time and just let it go. It took over a hour for
x64 to "upgrade." I think x86 took a little less time, but
it was still around an hour.

If you are doing an upgrade install, it has been reported repeatedly that
many people have had to wait 2 hours (sometimes even more) for the upgrade
to complete. A clean install is usually taking less than 30 minutes (26
minutes in my case).

People need to pay attention to screen info - when upgrade is selected there
is a statement presented that states upgrade may take "several hours" (Exact
quote).
