Default VPN not authenticating passwords with ALT Characters

Just wanting to know if you can use ALT combination
character passwords with VPN. I recently had an issue
trying to connect to my work and it wouldn't allow me to
authenticate. The only time this has happened is after I
changed my password to include two ALT combination
characters in my password.
