WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne

Posted: 04-23-2007, 08:26 PM
While I'm playing WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne, Vista always restarts on
me after I'm like 15 mins into the game. Before the restart, it freezes up
and I get the BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).

PC Specs -

Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology with interrelated Intel® Core™ Duo
mobile processor T2250, Intel® 945GM Express chipset, Intel® PRO/Wireless
3945ABG network connection (802.11a/b/g) and extended battery life capability
2GB PC4200 DDR2 SDRAM for multitasking power, expandable to 4GB; 533MHz
frontside bus, 2MB L2 cache and 1.73GHz processor speed
Multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer support records up to 8.5GB
of data or 4 hours of video using compatible DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media;
also supports DVD-RAM

How can I stop this. Does Vista need a patch already? If so, when and where
can I get it?

15 mins and a system crash makes me think you either have faulty memory or
you are overheating.

You could try downloading 3dmark03 or 3dmark05 and run it on your system and
see if you get the crash when they run. You can get them for free at
www.futuremark.com

Seeing that you are using an Intel Graphics card, that might be your biggest
problem.

oopss sorry for that one....

i was about to say im having the same problem he's having..... and im using
a laptop so i dont know if it's possible if i can change graphic cards...but
if possible.. what kind of graphic card would u suggest? im really getting
irritated because warcraft(specifically the DotA custom game) is the only
game that im having this blue screen error... and i think overheat is not the
issue coz i use to play 4 hours straight on a different game (Ragnarok
Online, Tales of Pirates) and it doesnt crash on me..

Normally, you can't change the graphics card. Sometimes you can do some
minor upgrades. But normally it's whatever you have is what you got.

Not sure why your game would be crashing, are you also playing on-line ?
Maybe it's something that is tickling you're network and video card at the
same time. Maybe it's a flakey memory chip or flaky video driver.

I see the same weirdness when I overclock my PC. It's not a heat issue, but
some games will play for hours and hours, while other games will crash in
about 45 mins. or less. Might tweak around with the different settings as
well, like running the game with 16bit color instead of 32

yeah i play online... i think it's fixed now... i just updated my graphic
driver to the newer one and so far i played one round and i got to finish
it... normally it only takes 15 mins. playing that game and it'll suddenly
crash...

i'll try to keep on testing it to see if updating drivers is the solution

Give this a shot , I found it worked for me .

Make sure Warcraft is running in Administration mode ( right click -
Compatibility - Show settings for all users - check run this program ...
and pick Windows XP + check on the last box " Run this program as
administrator )

Go to your Power Options ( in Control Panel of course ) - click on "
Change when the computer sleeps " - and then " Change advanced power
settings . Change the setting of auto " Turn off hard disk after " to 0
( or never ) .

I have been through this problem for a week , and looked for solutions
online included from MS tech guys , but nothing worked . Somehow that
silly little trick worked for me , if you watch careful , the game
starts to have weird graphic problem after 20 mins of playing ... and
then crashes !

Hey, Nothing seems to be working, I had XP on my laptop before, then I
decided to upgrade to Vista, and this is the error I get everytime I try
to play Warcraft.
