welcome screen login

Posted: 11-28-2007, 03:33 AM
I am trying to login to my profile on Windows Vista Home Premium Ed. and it
gives me the prompt of "User profile service error" which pretty much means
that it cant load my profile. I am the only one that uses my computer but I
have it set up with a password to ward off my roommates from using it. Very
frustrating because I cant logon to my own computer. Please help.

a quick work around:

logon to the computer with the administrator account, go to the c:\users
directory, rename the "corrupt account" c:\users\<old account> "I would just
add a .org to the end of the directory, log off the administrator account,
login with your old corrupt user account, Vista should create a new account.

After your able to login with your user account, log off, login with the
administrator account again, go to c:\users\<old account>.org, and copy all
your files and setting over to your newly created account. Not all setting
will move, but you should be able to get 99% of everything (favs, music,
downloads, documents).
