I have had the following problem twice. First, I
downloaded and installed Music Match Player. I didn't
want it so I uninstalled it. From then on when I
inserted an audio CD, the pop up list came up
saying "Play audio CD using Windows Media Player" but it
still referred to a choice that no longer existed...the
Music Match Player. Worse, there was not a complete
statement, Just some computer garbage, no music match
icon, no "Play audio CD" statement...all it said
was "using Music Match". I had to format my drive and
reinstall windows to get rid of that fragment.
Now I just uninstalled a series of different CD
Burning software and when I insert an audio CD, the popup
list comes up saying (computer garbage..."using <need
provider>" Now there is a checkbox in the corner of the
list which allows you to not see this screen any more and
go straight into Windows Media Player. I checked the box
and at least I don't have to look at the bug any more.
It seems like third party manufacturers don't know how to
uninstall in the registry and leave pieces and parts of
statements which do not go away by running repair on the
operating system. Only a complete reinstall of the
operating system can get rid of the problem. Does
Microsoft know about this problem?
