whats wrong with easy transfer?

Posted: 07-11-2006, 11:36 AM
while trying to restore my old documents and settings, I always get this
error message: "please select a valid folder where the files caan be restored
from". but the fact is that I point to a network folder, where Savedata.mig
is actually stored. after dis[playing the message easy transfer stops and
gives a new change to browse the folders but this doesn't helpThis error
message should never display in my opinion. But I,m probably mistaken. who
could help me out whit this problem

Not too sure how well it works via a network share, may be unforseen
complications there... a valid work around would be to copy the file across
the network or removable media to a local folder and try the migration from
there.

at first thanks for your hint, but transferring doesn't seem to be te
solution, as Easy transfer still gives the same message, may it be something
with the file settings?

at first thanks for your hint, but this was one of the first things i tried
to solve the problem. could it be something with the file settings or
something else?

You may have to take ownership of the network folder (and of course all
sub-folders) from Vista. Try searching the newsgroup for "ownership" and
"permissions" for a bunch of discussion about this topic.
