Where is secpol.msc?

Posted: 03-28-2007, 05:23 AM
I'm doing some experimenting with a Vista system and I've come across
some more in depth documentation of UAC which explains some expanded
configuration options. To get to these options, it says to run the
secpol.msc from the run prompt.

When i do this, I am informed that said file doesn't exist, and sure
enough searches turn up nothing.

Are some of the microsoft console items not available in home premium?

Good to know... was planning a update to ultimate in the future, perhaps
I'll do that sooner rather than later.

Its not in Home Basic and not in Home Premium. What makes you think it is
in Ultimate?

Is there a web site that lists all the stuff that is/is not in all the
various Vista versions?

Yes it's in Ultimate. Here is a site that can be useful. Enter the feature
and it will pop up with articles on how to use it and what versions it's
available in.

Thanks for the link.

It would sure be nice if Microsoft could integrate Vista files with
http://support.microsoft.com/dllhelp/
That would have immediately shown me which vista version contains
secpol.msc.
