Why does connection break after adding a second IP address?

Hello
Why does connection to outside news and mail servers break after adding a
second
IP address in the "Advanced TCP/IP settings"? The second IP address is
needed to see a network server. My computer sees the network server when the
second IP address is entered on a general tab in the IP Properties window
only. The connection to outside news and mail servers doesn't resume after
adding the first IP address in the "Advanced TCP/IP settings".

after adding second nic, the routing table may change. also posting ipconfig
here may help.

I didn't add second network interface card.
