Why is Windows Explorer Auto Starting?

Posted: 01-21-2004, 03:52 PM
My E-Machines XP computer has a built in multi-use flash card reader. I
have always kept a flash card in the G: slot. Beginning a week ago, when I
start the computer Windows Explorer now opens automatically and shows the
contents of this drive. Same thing happens if I insert the card when the
computer is on: An Explorer window pops up. I don't want this to happen. I
have changed the AutoPlay properties for this G: drive many times with no
success. It doesn't happen with other slots in this reader, just the G:
slot. Also, the Explorer window that pops up ignores my normal
configuration preferences. And just so there is no confusion, this is not
the small window that says "What would you like to do..." It is a
full-fledged Explorer window. Any ideas? This is very annoying. Thank
you.
