Why won't it let me change the duration?

Changing the duration, (Tools / Options /
Advanced tab)...does not affect images
that are on the timeline. It only affects images
placed on the timeline *after* the change
is made.

To change the duration of an image already
on the time line...place your pointer on the
image / left click it / and drag the double
red arrow. You'll see a tool-tip box that
shows the duration change as you drag.
