Why would the RSPB pay pro hunt extremist Malcolm Ogilvie to conduct a dirty tricks campaign on usenet?

The RSPB have paid Malcolm Ogilvie & others for some time to disrupt
newsgroups exposing tabletop conservation, that costs millions of
animals their lives, provides RSPB hunting partners with game shoots,
and lines the pockets of top brass in the RSPB with wages in one case
exceeding 100k pa
