Wi-Fi protection issue with Vista

Posted: 11-21-2007, 10:43 PM
I installed Windows Vista on my computer. I also changed the WEP key on my
router. When I had Windows XP on my computer, I could just change it when I
connected to my wireless network again; When I clicked on my SSID I could
just change my WEP key. Now with Windows Vista I don't get the opportunity
to change my WEP key while keeping my SSID. Instead, there is a red "X" and
it tells me that the configuration does not match the wireless settings.
Could you please tell me how to go about just changing the WEP key on Vista?

go to the router and configure WPA2 or WPA (WEP is unsafe). make
sure the name of the SSID is not the one used by the manufacturer.

on the Vista computer, go to the network and sharing center, select
Manage Wireless Networks, right click the network, then properties,
go to the security tab and select the correct WPA type and change
the passphrase there.
