widescreen capture

Posted: 03-27-2006, 02:52 AM
Hi, I have just tried to transfer some video from my camera to my pc using
windows movie maker. I have recorded the footage on my camera in widescreen
but when I transfer it to pc it is squashed back to 4/3 format. Is there any
way I can correct this or do I need to buy some other software? thanks Bill.

In Windows Movie Maker... from the Toolbar, Tools, Options..... 16:9 instead
of 4:3.

Is it recorded in 16:9 or just in widescreen? Because sometimes there is a
difference. Some "widescreen" or "cinema" setting simply add black bars to
the top and bottom of the image so the image is wide but the whole frame is
still effectively 4:3. Perhaps you do need to get a more advanced editing
program.

The problem as it turns out is the JVC format. I found a program called "
sdcopy " that changes the tag to 16:9 and allows you to edit the file in
windows movie maker in 16:9 format.
