| This problem is strange! i have 3 pcs on a home network, network location = network, workgroup = workgroup (this is identical on all pcs) 1 vista ultimate (clean install) Desktop which we will call 'A' 1 vista ultimate (clean install) Laptop which we will call 'B' 1 xp pro desktop which we will call 'C' i have installed the driver from microsoft (onto C) in order for the xp machine to communicate properly with the vista machines, right onto the problem, even the microsoft tech guys couldnt fix this via remote access but assure me that they are researching the problem further. A can see and access B & C B can see A & C but can only access C C can see A & B but can only access B (A is in-accessable to others on the network) the network map is fine and i can ping all pcs from all pcs when i try to access A it displays a message saying 'windows cannot access \\james' please check the spelling, otherwise you may have a problem with your network, click diagnose to try to resolve this it gives an error code of '0x80070035' i click diagnose and no problems are found internet is absolutley fine on all pcs i am stumped, so was mr. microsoft, all the right options seem to be enabled, there is no 3rd party firewall and i have tried turning both windows firewall and windows deffender off i use nod32 on all pcs and have tried uninstalling it it has nothing to do with my router im sure (as its only A thats is in-accessable and i've changed which port i am using and tried it with only A & B, i have also used different ethernet cables, plus it worked flawlessly prior to installing vista) i would be very grateful to anyone who has any ideas...what-so-ever... thankyou James | Guest

First I'd make sure that NetBT is consistently enabled on all 3 computers. <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/07/advanced-windows-networking-using.html> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2006/0...ing-using.html Then look at logs from "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all", from each computer, so we can diagnose the problem. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download browstat!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience.
